UCI CARE

UCI CARE provides free and confidential support services to members of the UCI community who have been impacted by sexual assault, relationship abuse, family violence and/or stalking.  Programs and services are available to people of all identities and regardless of status. UCI CARE aims to end these forms of power-based personal violence by engaging the campus community in education, programming, and transformative action.

Interns will have the opportunity to develop and enhance prevention efforts around sexual and relationship violence. They will help to implement outreach initiatives on campus, through active programs or passive materials. Interns will also assist in the collection and evaluation of research related to student experience on campus. Student will participate in an initial orientation, attend weekly meetings to assess progress and get direction, and participate in training as needed throughout the quarter.

Tasks intern will work on: 

  • Participate in training related to: bystander intervention, advocacy 101, supporting a survivor, etc.
  • Assist in the planning and development of tabling and outreach activities
  • Provide staffing for programming, outreach and other events
  • Complete checklists and track number of students in attendance/outreached to
  • Provide support with set up for the Yoga as Healing program (evenings)
  • Learn about messaging and promotion related to prevention and support
  • Bulletin board design
  • Contribute content to monthly newsletter
  • Assist in the development of social media content
  • Conduct research and literature reviews on holistic healing, bystander intervention, faculty and graduate student involvement.

Skills required: Work well independently and as part of a team, strong marketing skills preferred, strong communication skills, creative, and organized when implementing various outreach initiatives, strong interest in the services/programs of CARE.

Location: Irvine, CA

Internship timeframe: quarterly internships with flexibility in doing consecutive quarters

Hours per week: 10 hours
