Lead Student Ambassador Position for the UCGHI Student Ambassador Program

The 2023-2024 Lead Student Ambassador position is open to all previous UCGHI undergraduate, graduate, or professional student ambassadors. Students who previously participated in the Student Ambassador Program and are dedicated to personal and professional growth by serving and representing their respective UC campuses and partnering HBCU are encouraged to apply. This UCGHI Lead Student Ambassador will develop, organize, and promote activities within the program, on their campuses and across all UC campuses while mobilizing student, faculty and staff involvement. This is an exciting and unique leadership opportunity to work closely with the UCGHI Core Team, researchers, and UCGHI leaders while also strengthening your professional networks.

Eligible UCGHI Lead Student Ambassadors will receive a $2,500 stipend at the end of the program. Interested program alumni will be able to apply via the main application. 

Lead Student Ambassador Position 2023-2024

The University of California Global Health Institute (UCGHI) is recruiting one Lead Student Ambassador across all 10 UC campuses, UC Hastings College of the Law and partnering Historically Black College and University (HBCU), Charles R. Drew University, to support coordination of the 2023-2024 Student Ambassador Program and related UCGHI activities.

Application Process

Eligibility:

  • Previous UCGHI Student Ambassador
  • Must be a currently enrolled UC or Charles Drew University undergraduate, graduate, or professional student
  • Strong interest/passion for global health, planetary health, gender and health justice, and/or health equity
  • Demonstrated commitment to justice, diversity, equity, and inclusion work
  • Must be able to commit to weekly time commitment of 3 - 5 hours (on average)

Roles and Responsibilities:

  • Timeframe: October 2023 – June 2024
  • Assist the UCGHI Student Ambassadors Coordinating team with administrative program support for the program, support UCGHI-hosted events, and if applicable, student-led committees
  • Meetings with the Communications Specialist twice a month (on average) to provide updates on initiatives; monthly meetings with UCGHI Student Ambassador Coordinating Team
  • Hold monthly 1-hour office hours with student ambassadors
  • Contribute to program curriculum such as webinar speakers, professional development webinars, etc.
  • Support promotion and educational awareness efforts for UCGHI, such as signature projects, and promote UCGHI-related events (e.g. UCGHD 2024)
  • Attend and support monthly webinars for Student Ambassador Program (e.g. polls, monitor chat, introduce speakers, etc.)
  • Lead planning and implementation of social activities for Student Ambassadors, if applicable
  • Work with the UCGHI Core and Leadership team with UC Global Health Day 2024, including day-of coordination
  • Assist with coordinating Student Ambassadors Internship Opportunities Program
